Benefits for NEXT Steps Students 

Part of NEXT Steps mission is to provide students a residential college experience rooted in Christian faith. This holistic program supports academic, vocational, social, and spiritual growth while being committed to celebrating each student's unique perspective.

Comprehensive learning

Students enroll in 1-2 Messiah courses each semester, where they learn alongside faculty and fellow Messiah students, with a modified syllabus and peer mentor support. Additionally, they will enroll in program-specific courses that focus on essential skills for independent living, personal achievement, and preparing for the workforce.

Residential living

Students live in Messiah's residence halls alongside their peers! They will enjoy full access to all amenities and activities. Support is  provided by a resident advisor (RA) and a live-in Resident Director who perform daily living and well-being walkthroughs.

Workforce development

Students will have a variety of opportunities to explore career interests and participate in on-campus career readiness activities. During their final year, students will complete on and off campus internships that prepare them for competitive integrated employment.

Campus integration

NEXT Steps aims to immerse students in an exciting, safe, Christ-centered community! Each student will be issued a Messiah student I.D. card and will take part in exciting kickoff events like new student orientation week and the involvement fair, where they can select from a variety of clubs and organizations to join. Students have the opportunity to engage in campus ministries, join in numerous activities, and cheer on their teams at athletic events, among many other options!
