Katelyn Galyen
Sustainability Program Coordinator
Katelyn Galyen is the Sustainability Program Coordinator and alumni of Messiah's Sustainability Studies program. Her passion for sustainability comes from her thrifty New England roots and Christian faith. She has spent much of her time in a garden and gets excited about facilitating spaces where people can access, learn about, and connect with the outdoors. Katelyn is excited to be a part of a team with enthusiastic students in their efforts to protect the earth and make a healthier future for Messiah's campus.
Maggie Stauder
Student Sustainability Engagement Coordinator
Maggie Stauder is a junior Sustainability Studies major with a concentration in Conservation and Agriculture, and a minor in Business Administration. As the Engagement Coordinator for the Office of Sustainability, she organizes the Sustain-A-Fest event in the fall, a chapel series, and other student outreach and event coordination. Outside of the Office, she also works in the Murray Library and is the vice president of Messiah Earthkeepers. Maggie has a large collection of houseplants and a passion for gardening, and if she’s not on campus, she’s probably visiting friends or family! She hopes to work in wildlife conservation after college and strives to be an overall good steward of creation.
Danielle Leppert
Waste Coordinator
Danielle Leppert is a Senior Film and Media Arts major, graduating in December 2025. As the Waste Coordinator for the Office of Sustainability, she manages campus composting, recycling, and trash systems, oversees Food Recovery Network actions, coordinates Campus Race to Zero Waste programming, and leads Messiah’s Sustainable Move-Out program. Outside of sustainability, she is a Student Career Coach at the Career and Professional Development Center, House Leader for the Foreman Restoration House, and Senior Director for YBTV. Danielle’s favorite thing about sustainability is integrating sustainable swaps into daily habits. In the future, she hopes to incorporate sustainability into the film industry. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, long walks, reading, movie and game nights with friends, and watching Friends on repeat.
Sharleyne Medina
Communication Coordinator
Sharleyne Medina is a Sophomore Public Relations major with a minor in Marketing. As the Communications Coordinator, she is responsible for ensuring that all events and activities from the Sustainability Office are shared across social media platforms, newsletters, and daily email updates - making sustainability engaging and accessible to students. She also serves as the Social Media Coordinator for PRSSA, where she combines creativity and strategy to connect members with professional opportunities. Passionate about storytelling and media design, she enjoys reading and creating digital content.
Claire Heller
Biodiversity Coordinator
Claire Heller is a senior with a major in Sustainability Studies and a concentration in Conservation and Agriculture with a minor in Business Administration. As the Biodiversity Coordinator, she works on campus initiatives to protect and increase biodiversity, a precious resource on which all life depends for its health. She organizes the tree planting around campus and maintains the bee boxes in the lower garden, but remains on the lookout for additions throughout campus! Claire lives locally and loves all things outdoors. After taking a May term course studying tropical agriculture and sustainable development in Costa Rica, she is more passionate than ever about sustainability and would love to talk to you about it!
Alisha Wyland
Grantham Community Garden Coordinator
Alisha Wyland is a Junior Studio Art Major with a concentration in Graphic Design. As the Garden Coordinator, much of what she does is maintain the two campus gardens, as well as planting, harvesting, and running weekly markets. Alisha has a deep passion for community, which she shows by being able to provide fresh produce to the Messiah community through the garden. Beyond working with Sustainability, she loves making a wide variety of art, exploring different music, and playing guitar or marimba!
Wesley Paris
Energy Coordinator
Wesley Paris is a sophomore student in Organismal Biology with a minor in Studio Art. As the Energy Coordinator, Wesley will focus on educating the student body about sustainable and efficient energy usage. In addition, with a passion for bicycle mechanics, he will fix, maintain, and rent out Messiah's bike fleet for students. Living a few minutes from campus, he is used to Messiah's campus, the community gardens and is looking forward to serving his campus and community. Outside of sustainability, Wesley enjoys listening to rock music, reading early to mid-20th-century literature, hiking, and rock climbing.
