Journalism Major
Messiah College's journalism major is designed to equip you for effective service in print media and related fields. Besides receiving basic training in the principles of journalism, you will choose an area of concentrated practice. Philadelphia Campus As a journalism major, you will spend your junior and senior years at Messiah's Philadelphia Campus in collaboration with Temple University. In this way, your education will combine the benefits of a Christian liberal arts college with the advantages of a large public university. In addition to taking courses at Messiah's Living/Learning Center on North Broad Street, you will take classes in Temple University's highly regarded School of Communication and Theatre. Practical Experience Messiah features an excellent field studies program which provides you with hands-on experience in a variety of settings. You can put your skills to work at Messiah's main campus in internships and practica as well as on the Clarion (yearbook) and The Swinging Bridge (campus newspaper) staffs. At the Philly Campus, some students have completed practica with Philadelphia magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and other publications.
