Welcome to the Commencement celebration for the Class of 2020!

If you are a family member or guest who will be celebrating Commencement with a graduating senior, please read the links at left under "Visitor Resources" for important information that will make your campus visit experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. On behalf of the Messiah University community--we look forward to welcoming you to celebrate the accomplishments of your graduates!

We realize that not all family members or guests will be comfortable traveling to campus in-person for Commencement Weekend. So, in addition to providing (4) guest tickets for each graduate, Messiah will be livestreaming the Class of 2020 Commencement ceremony so that all family members and guests may participate remotely.

Special needs or assistance

For any special questions or needs that you may have regarding Commencement (including assistive listening devices, interpreter services, or other guest support services), please contact the University’s Office of Conference and Event Services at 717.691.6009 or roomres@messiah.edu. Information on disability parking for Commencement weekend may be found here.

COVID-19 health and safety measures

Messiah University is committed to the health and safety of our graduates and their guests, and anticipates that we will be continuing our current COVID-19 mitigation practices throughout Commencement weekend--including wearing masks and physically distancing both indoor and outdoors, hand sanitizing, etc. We also ask all graduates and guests to refrain from coming to campus who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been exposed to confirmed COVID-positive individuals.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Parents and guests: It will be important to continue to check this website frequently for any changes or updates. Messiah's Commencement planning is tightly integrated with changing federal and state restrictions related to COVID-19, and aspects of the ceremony are subject to change as the University adjusts its planning in response.

What if it rains?

Inclement weather plan

It is the University's strong preference to hold the Commencement Ceremony outdoors as scheduled in order to accommodate family members and guests. However, in the event of severe inclement weather, Commencement will be moved indoors to Hitchcock Arena. If this occurs, regrettably, only the graduates will be able to attend in-person, due to the state's COVID-19 related restrictions for indoor gatherings. All ceremonies, however, will be livestreamed so that guests may watch remotely.
