Director's Welcome:

Dear Customer,

Welcome to the Messiah College Facilities Services Web Page. We have developed this web page to provide you with information about the types of services available from the Messiah College Facilities Services Departments and how to obtain those services, as well as a way to share information about the Facilities Departments.

Our campus and facilities are serviced by dedicated employees working as a team to operate, maintain, repair, renovate, and clean over 1.3 million square feet of space encompassed by 36+ structures located on 450 acres. We offer a myriad of services that include: repair, maintenance and renovation of facilities and the infrastructure; custodial services; grounds and landscape maintenance; refuse disposal; Environmental Health and Safety; vehicle fleet maintenance; event support; warehouse management; and, administrative services.

We are committed to taking care of our campus through a collaborative team effort. Our goals are to provide responsive, quality service, to provide safe, well-maintained, and attractive facilities that are conducive to learning and working, to effectively communicate with our Customers so we understand their needs and expectations, and to address the needs of professional and personal development of our employees.

Mission:
The Facility Services Departments, consisting of Campus Events, Facility Maintenance, Grounds Services, and Environmental Health and Safety, supports the mission of Messiah College by maintaining and enhancing buildings, grounds and infrastructure in a cost-effective, safe and environmentally responsible manner. We exist to provide and improve facilities and related services for our customers - the students, faculty, staff and visitors- in support of the College's mission and strategic Plan.

The Department of Facility Services oversees the routine maintenance of building structure and systems, grounds care, trash and recycling, fleet needs and central receiving. The Lenhert building is located at the Southgate entrance to Messiah College. Bradley Markley, Director of Facility Services, oversees the following areas: Facility Maintenance, Grounds Services, Fleet Services, Environmental Health and Safety (which includes Central Receiving, Trash and Recycling, and Fire Safety), Projects, and Campus Events.

Responsible for the overall management of the campus facilities, including Facility Maintenance, Grounds, Custodial, and Environmental Health and Safety. Holds managers responsible for operations of departments, ensures department managers monitor operating performance and takes corrective action if necessary. Also responsible for long term facility planning. Provide leadership to construction projects on campus.

Plans, implements and manages the activities of the Facility Maintenance Service Department. Trains, instructs and assigns work so as to effectively direct the activities of the Facility Maintenance employees; Assures systems and buildings function in a safe manner and provide comfort for students, employees and visitors.

Grounds Services -  Jared Rudy, Grounds Manager

Responsible for managing eight full time and eleven seasonal employees. The manager oversees the operation of routine grounds maintenance procedures, landscape projects, sports turf management, road and sidewalk repair, snow removal and yard waste recycling program. The grounds staff consist of four campus crew leaders, one sports turf crew leader, one sports turf groundskeeper, one herbaceous plant specialist and one grounds mechanic.

Develops, implements and coordinates the methodologies of a risk management program to improve the safety and satisfaction of students, employees and guests. Interfaces with many operational departments and services within the facility to include, but not limited to, Public Safety, Human Resources, and Academic Faculty. Provides staff education on environmental health and safety topics . Oversees reporting of adverse events and potential hazardous conditions including reporting claims to governmental or voluntary agencies.

Projects - Russ Ehrich, Manager

Manages capital improvement projects by directing and managing projects with regard for time constraints, cost effectiveness, code compliance and safety precautions. Responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent customer service. Interface with design professionals, contractors, administration, staff, students and authorities having jurisdiction. Responsible to coordinate in-house facility projects among various trades.

Campus Events - Scott Zeigler, Manager

Responsible for the overall operation of the Campus Events & Laundry Departments, including the planning, organizing, development, direction and coordination of all Campus Event and Laundry employees as well as all College event, custodial, pest control and furniture moving needs. Accountable for meeting federal, state and local standards and guidelines for event and custodial management. Responsible for maintaining excellent customer service and a high degree of coordination across several departments.
