Rachel Shenk - Admissions Counselor

Hello! Thank you for your interest in Messiah College and for visiting the Admissions website! My name is Rachel Shenk and I graduated in December 2012 with a major in Human Development and Family Science and a minor in Gerontology. I am excited to work with students from New York and northeastern Pennsylvania and to help you navigate your college search!

I feel so blessed to have attended Messiah College and be a part of the many opportunities available to students. I was a work-study for the Department of Human Development and Family Science as well as for the Internship Center. I was involved with a student organization, the Messiah College Council on Family Relations and attended and presented at several national conferences. Also, I participated in a Koinonia small group and service learning opportunities. Furthermore, I traveled to Sweden and Norway on a May-term cross-cultural and participated in several internships to explore my career interests.

During my time at Messiah College, I was most impacted by the extracurricular activities I participated in, as well as by getting to know my professors, and being a part of a Christian community. The professors at Messiah College are passionate about the material they teach and care deeply about their students, both in and outside of the classroom. I attribute much of my intellectual and spiritual growth and maturity I experienced as a student to the wonderful professors and faculty who poured into my life. Furthermore, living in a Christian community at Messiah made my college experience a positive and life-changing one. I developed lasting and genuine friendships, a stronger commitment to my faith, and a growing desire to learn.
