The Falcon in the Eisenhower Campus Center wins a Gold Medal in the 2013 Loyal E. Horton Awards competition from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS)... May 27, 2013
Eisenhower Campus Center’s retail restaurant, The Falcon, has been recognized with a Gold Medal from the National Association of College and University Food Services in the Retail Sales-Single Concept category. The category is for college campus eateries specifically, not dining halls or cafeterias. The recognition is based on a variety of aspects of The Falcon’s menu and service, including atmosphere, nutrition and wellness offerings, online ordering capabilities, sustainability practices and menu variety including featured items. Congratulations to Megan Byers, Assistant Retail Restaurant Manager, and her staff for winning this prestigious award.
Culinary Highlights... March 18, 2013
Please join us in congratulating Lynn Masser who won a silver medal at the 2013 NACUFS (National Association of College and University Food Services) Regional Conference held at Millersville University on Sunday, March 17. This is an ACF (American Culinary Federation) certified competition judged and critiqued by certified master chefs. Lynn completed against nine other chefs at this event. This year’s selected protein was duck and the competing chefs were tasked with designing a meal which included this item. Lynn prepared Asian Duck Sliders with Pickled Vegetables, Sriracha Aioli and Duck Fat French Fries. See pictures of Lynn and her winning plate at Messiah’s Dining Services Facebook Page. Messiah College Chili Challenge 2013... March 8, 2013
The Chili Challenge 2013 on Thursday, March 7 was open to all staff, faculty and students. We had eight delicious chili entrees. You voted and here are our winners!
1st Place – “A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That” Jay McClymont, Director of Alumni and Parent Relations
2nd Place – “Fusion Cornbread Chili” Dan Campbell, Dining Services Supervisor
3rd Place – “Tex-Mex Chili” Drena Doran, Dining Services Cook

Culinary Highlights... January 17, 2013
Lynn Masser wins Messiah’s Culinary Challenge and moves on to the next round of competition at Millersville University in March. Each year, NACUFS (National Association of College and University Food Services) holds a culinary competition at its national conference. Chefs design a meal around the selected protein. The protein of choice this year is duck. Lynn prepared Asian Duck Sliders with Pickled Vegetables, Sriracha Aioli and Duck Fat French Fries. Kathy Eberly participated in the Chocolate Fest Cake Competition in Hershey, PA. This year’s cake theme was “Winter Wonderland”. Kathy participated in the professional chef category with a two-tiered chocolate filled chocolate cake with a snowflake theme. Kathy has been taking professional development classes and learning new techniques which she used to create her cake. Click here to see a picture of Kathy’s design. All cakes submitted for the competition were auctioned off with proceeds benefitting Keystone Human Services to help with the challenges of autism.
