Graduates must report to Hitchcock Arena with their caps and gowns between 1:15-1:45 p.m. to receive instructions and a number for their place in line. (Note: The University does not hold a ceremony rehearsal, so it is important for graduates to report on time to receive instruction.)
- There are many graduates to line up, so it is essential to arrive well before 1:45.
Class of 2021 Undergraduate Commencement ceremony
3 - 5 p.m., Starry Athletic Complex, Shoemaker Field
The Commencement ceremony celebrates graduating seniors and their family and guests
IMPORTANT CHANGE: Due to COVID-19 related restrictions, tickets are required this year for entry to the outdoor commencement ceremony. Each graduate will be allocated tickets for two (2) guests. If the ceremony is moved indoors due to inclement weather, and if state restrictions permit, the ceremony will be held in Hitchcock Arena in the Sollenberger Sports Center. Regrettably, in the event of an indoor commencement, physical distance protocols will not allow for guest seating. Only graduates will be able to attend the ceremony. However, the indoor Commencement ceremony will be livestreamed so that all may view the ceremony remotely.
Following the Commencement ceremony, the University will provide pre-packaged refreshments for all graduates and their guests.
It will be important to continue to check this website and your Messiah email frequently for any changes or updates. Messiah's Commencement planning is tightly integrated with changing federal and state restrictions related to COVID-19, and aspects of the ceremony are subject to change as the University adjusts its planning in response.
