Priorities for Computer Use

• Computer access is granted on a first come, first serve basis. The management reserves the right to implement a sign-up procedure (see Student Lab Reservations) or prohibit access to some software when the need arises.
  
  
• A "full" lab room is one in which every computer is being used or every computer with a specific capability is being used. If a lab is full, a person who needs to perform a higher priority task may ask a person performing a lower priority task to give up the use of the computer. The person performing the lower priority task is obligated to quickly give access to the computer to the person performing the higher priority task.
  
  
• When the lab fills completely, people executing the lowest priority task for that lab room are asked to leave voluntarily, provided that there are any low priority users in the lab. Users are still expected to observe the lab policies under their own restraint.
  
  
When the lab fills completely and there are no low priority users, then students must wait for a turn at the computer. If a sign-up procedure has been implemented, reserve a time slot by following the posted sign-up rules.
