The Messiah College Teacher Education Program prepares students in a number of areas of teacher certification. The Teacher Education Program is governed by the Teacher Education Committee in compliance with regulations established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the PA Instructional I Teaching Certificate.
We encourage students, prospective students, parents, alumni, and department faculty to follow us on twitter and/or Facebook. We post reminders, job postings, changes in requirements, and other opportunities on our TEP twitter @MCTEP1 and Facebook accounts. Of course, we also send important information to students in targeted emails and e-newsletters, but it will most likely be posted first on Facebook/twitter.
PROJECT EXCELLENCE GRANT
Messiah College is partnering with Penn State Harrisburg and Holy Family University in the Partnerships for Teaching and Leadership Excellence grant. The grant trains teacher candidates and cooperating teachers to develop a co-teaching model of student teaching, based on the St. Cloud State Co-Teaching Model. Five local districts are partnering with us this semester.
can now be met with qualifying scores on the SAT/ACT prior to matriculation. Students who are not exempt also have the option to take the new ETS Core Assessment in place of the PAPA. Choose the testing link for more information about these requirements.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TEACHING
Students now have the opportunity to complete part of their student teaching in an international setting. Students who will graduate/student teach in 15-16 should apply before October 15. Messiah College partners with CCTECC, an organization that arranges placements in international schools. More information about this opportunity is posted on our international opportunities page. A recent article about this opportunity appeared on the Messiah website.
TEP MENTORING PARTNERSHIP
Teacher Education Program students are learning about intellectual disabilities while serving as mentors for a local high school student attending classes at Messiah. Contact us if you would like to be involved with this program.
