Coordinator of Health Services:

JUDY GROOP, B.S.N., R.N., B.C. is the Coordinator of Health Services. She is a graduate of Boston College School of Nursing. Her over 35 years of experience ranges from general Medical and Surgical background including telemetry and Inservice Education, to Home Care specializing in Intravenous Therapy, even Camp Nursing. She is Board Certified in College Health by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and remains active in the Mid-Atlantic College Health Association.

SANDRA HALBRUNER, RN, MS, CRNP is the Engle Center’s nurse practitioner. Sandra earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Franklin & Marshall College in 1992, and then a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University in 1996. She completed her nurse practitioner training and a Master of Science at the Pennsylvania State University in 1999 and is currently pursuing doctoral work through Wilkes University. Sandra worked as a nurse practitioner for ten years in an internal medicine, infectious disease and travel medicine practice prior to coming to Messiah College in March, 2009. She is board certified in family practice through the American Nurses Credentialing Center When she is not at work, Sandra enjoys playing instrumental music and raising her two young children along with her husband, Mark Halbruner, class of 1989.

Nursing Staff:

SALLY BAUM, B.S.N., R.N. is a 1991 graduate of Messiah College School of Nursing. Her nearly 20 years experience includes Intensive Care, Dialysis, Home Health, Hospice and Camp Nursing at Deer Foot Lodge in the summers. She works part time in Health Services.

DEB BRENSINGER, B.A., B.S.N., R.N., M.A., is a 1991graduate of Messiah College School of Nursing. Her background is in Geriatric Nursing. Deb has worked part time in Health Services since 1996. She also has her Masters in Wholistic Spirituality/Spiritual Direction.

KATHY LAWLIS, R.N., B.C. is a graduate of Wishard Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has 34 years of nursing experience in Emergency Room, Intensive Care, and College Health. She is Board Certified in College Health by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her responsibilities include working part time in Health Services and she shares the responsibility for the On-Call hours.

MICHELLE LUCAS, B.S.N., R.N. is a 1996 graduate of Messiah College School of Nursing. Shelley brings over 15 years experience including Home Care, Private Duty and Medical Surgical Nursing. Shelley works part time in Health Services and shares in the On-call hours.

Teri Witter, B.S.N., R.N. is a 1997 graduate of Messiah College School of Nursing. Teri brings nearly 15 years of experience including Emergency Room, ICU, and Camp nursing. She works at the Engle Center part time. She lives on campus with her four children and her husband, Wendell, who is the Assistant Director for Student Involvement. This allows her to interact and be involved with students on a regular basis through Bible Studies and other functions.

Ancillary Health Providers:

Wendy Cheesman MS, PT, ATC will provide part time Physical Therapy Assessment for students and staff. She graduated from Messiah College in 1989 with BA in athletic training and graduated from the University of Rhode Island 1995 with a MS in Physical Therapy. She completed a years work and fellowship with Pachaug Physical Therapy in Griswold, CT before coming to Messiah where she has worked for 13 years treating athletes from a variety of sports teams. Wendy also teaches in the athletic training curriculum. When not at work she enjoys gardening, cooking, kayaking and the RED SOX!
