The pre-counseling and therapy minor is ideal if you may want to further your education in marriage and family therapy or counseling in graduate school. Classes within the pre-counseling and therapy minor provide a basic understanding of the various counseling and therapy professions as well as discipline-based knowledge that can help you make an informed decision about the career you wish to pursue. Some classes you’ll take include Foundations of Marriage and Family or Introduction to Psychology, Dynamics of Family Interaction, Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Theories, and Counseling Skills along with various elective courses such as Marriage and Family Therapy, Group Dynamics, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Death, Grief and Caring, and a Family Service or Psychology Practicum.
