Jazz Vespers to perform Feb. 29

Eric Byrd Trio, Tim Warfield, Terrell Stafford, United Voices of Praise

The Eric Byrd Trio, Jazz Ambassadors for the U.S. State Department and the Kennedy Center, will present a worship service featuring Biblical scripture readings and music drawn from Negro spirituals, hymns and black gospel music, all performed within the idiom of jazz. Artist in Residence Eric Byrd will be joined by trio members Bhagwan Khalsa, bass, and drummer Alphonso Young Jr. The program will also feature Artist in Residence Tim Warfield on saxophone, trumpeter Terrell Stafford and Messiah’s gospel choir, United Voices of Praise.
