Informational interviewing literally means, "interviewing for information." It's a great way to gather information about a career field of interest by speaking with someone who's working in that field. It's one thing to read about a major and the career opportunities that accompany that, but there's a lot to be learned from someone with experience and insight.
Identifying someone to interview
- Consider individuals in your personal network - family, friends, church members, former supervisors, faculty, your roommates contacts, etc.
- Gather information early on by attending a job fair. Speak with employers about the opportunities they offer with their organization.
- Connect with a Messiah alum through the Messiah College Professional Network! Contact the Career Center for more information.
- Use the Informational Interview Guide for sample invites and questions.
