Events and Opportunities

All members of the Community of Educators are cordially invited to the professional development events scheduled throughout the academic year.

Christian Scholarship Colloquies are small group conversations designed to encourage generative reflection about connecting faith and learning. Colloquies typically revolve around a particular piece of Christian scholarship and often feature the text’s author. Space is limited, so a separate reservation for each colloquy is required.

A Celebration of Faculty Scholarship provides a venue to highlight the scholarly and artistic work of faculty, learn about others' work, and for all to celebrate our scholarly contributions as an educational community. Faculty whose work has been published, performed, or presented at a conference, disciplinary meeting, dissertation defense, or other comparable venue since the previous celebration are invited to contribute their work. This celebration replaces the previous Accolades in the Athenaeum, New Doc's Tea, and Author's Exhibit events.

As part of May Development Week each year, which is held during the week between Messiah University’s Undergraduate and Graduate Commencement ceremonies, the Office of Faculty Development offers a number of development opportunities focused on helping educators grow in their capacities and equipping them to advance university strategic priorities.
