Language and Cultures

In an ever-changing diverse and global community, the ability to communicate in multiple languages, and comprehend ways in which people of other cultural traditions perceive the world, expands one's appreciation for dynamic relationship-building between people. 201 courses lay a foundation in the outcome of Social Responsibility.

Why does it matter?

Skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in other languages, such as Chinese, French or Spanish, effectively enables students to communicate in oral and written venues in a major world language and across cultural boundaries. Comprehending literary languages, including biblical Greek, Hebrew, and Latin, open new doors for students to study the cultures, history, and literary works of the past that have shaped our modern world and beliefs and that will continue to impact our future.
