Why is CACREP accreditation important?

CACREP accreditation

Messiah College’s M.A. in counseling offers one of the best indicators of a quality counseling program — CACREP accreditation. CACREP, which stands for Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs, evaluates educational program content to ensure that it meets or exceeds standards set by the counseling profession.

The benefit to the student, in addition to identifying high-quality graduate programs, is the outcome. Students leave the program prepared to enter the world of professional counseling. Choosing a CACREP-accredited program also helps streamline the licensing process for students after completing the program. What’s more, according to CACREP, graduates of accredited counseling programs perform better on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE).
