AROMA Sports Ministry

Messiah University’s sports ministry program, called AROMA (A Revolution of Missional Athletes), founded in 2011, is distinctive among colleges and universities—inviting students to use their athletic abilities to serve the needs of others—both in their local communities and around the globe.

For example, in the past 7 years, AROMA has facilitated:

  • 56 international service trips to 16 different countries
  • 10 domestic service trips
  • 1039 trip participants:
    • 849 students
    • 95 coaches
    • 67 alumni
    • 28 other friends of the University
  • 2,320 Sawyer clean water filters distributed worldwide
  • 137 Messiah athletes participate in AROMA’s weekly fellowship groups
  • 25 community block parties hosted for the local refugee population in Messiah’s surrounding community
  • 12 regional youth sports camps and 45 Messiah athlete-coaches serving 651 campers.
