Regional Accreditation

While Messiah University requires graduate students to hold an undergraduate degree, applications for admission from students who have earned an undergraduate degree from a college or university in the United States that is not regionally accredited will be evaluated for admission on a case by case basis. Details can be found here.

Admissions Requirements for Music Conducting

  • Official transcripts indicating a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music earned
  • Completed application
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 (< 3.0 will be reviewed on a case by case basis)
  • Personal Statement of Purpose: Your 300-500 word statement should describe your preparations for graduate work, your reasons for applying for this particular graduate program at Messiah University and how this graduate program will help you meet your professional and educational goals
  • A 15-20 minute recording of the applicant conducting a live performance or rehearsal of a self-prepared ensemble
    • Applicant needs to conduct with camera facing the conductor showing common meters.
    • Applicant must submit video exhibiting two, contrasting styles
  • Two letters of recommendations (addressing your professional experience and/or academic performance, excluding relatives)*
  • Resume*
  • A list of performed or rehearsed repertoire in the major conducting area *
  • Access to a performing ensemble in the applied area for use in the capstone requirement *

Doctorate & Master's Degree

Admissions Requirements for Physical Therapy (DPT)

  • Students should complete all components of their application through PTCAS.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an institution that is regionally accredited by one of the following: Middle States, New England, North Central, Northwest, Western and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher (cummulative & prerequisite) 
  • Submitted GRE scores 
  • 3 letters of recommendation (one from faculty, one from a PT, one from faculty or PT)
  • 50 hours of observation or volunteer work in two different physical therapy practice settings
    • 25 hours inpatient, 25 hours outpatient
  • Applicants must demonstrate satisfactory completion of the undergraduate courses listed below. (Grade of C or better must be achieved in each course, with a minimum cumulative prerequisite GPA of 3.0)
    • 8 credits of Biology
    • 8 credits of Anatomy and Physiology
    • 8 credits of Physics (1 and 2)
    • 8 credits of Chemistry (1 and 2)
    • 3 credits of Statistics
    • 3 credits of Psychology
    • 1-3 credits of Medical Terminiology
