Curtis

Curtis Kurtz completed his undergraduate degree in Accounting at Messiah University in 2015. After graduation, he worked as an accountant for two years, and then transitioned to work at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania as a Residence Director while he completed his Master’s Degree in Counseling and College Student Personnel—graduating in 2020. In January 2023, Curtis stepped into the role of Assistant Director of Residence Life for the First-Year experience and in July 2023 became the Residence Director of Bittner Hall. Curtis previously served as the Residence Director for Sollenberger Hall and Mellinger Apartments from January 2020-May 2021 and the Residence Director of Witmer Hall from July 2021- May 2023. As a First-Generation Student, supporting First-Year students in their transition to college is a major passion of his, and he strives to ensure that their first year at Messiah leaves a long-lasting impact on their life.

In his free time, Curtis loves spending time with his wife Katie, their son, Keegan, and their Golden Doodle, Juniper. He enjoys trying new coffee shops, playing recreational sports, reading, and watching competition reality television—especially Survivor! Curtis also serves as the advisor for the Messiah University Survivor Club.

He looks forward to getting to know you during your time on campus, and if you ever see him around, don’t hesitate to say hello!
