Admissions Traveling Recruiter Graduate Assistant (Messiah Univeristy campus)

Position Title: Graduate Assistant, Admissions Traveling Recruiter                                                            

Department:    Office of the Admissions

Reports To:      Director of Admissions

Position Summary:  The Traveling Recruiter will spend the majority of time traveling to college fairs, high schools, and meeting with prospective students at events off-campus during the fall semester. The Recruiter will share the Messiah University story with prospective students and their families with the goal to grow a strong inquiry pool. When not traveling, this position will support the admissions team administratively (information sessions during visits, event days, student phoning, special projects, etc.). This is a two year appointment not to exceed 800 hours a year. Hours will be irregular based on travel during the week (not to exceed 39 hours per week in the fall, balance of hours will be completed in the spring).

Education Required:  Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education at Messiah University.

Experience Preferred:  Previous college admissions experience, professionally or as a student

Special Working Conditions

• Ability to travel extensively. There will be evening responsibilities, as well as some overnight and weekend responsibilities. Although primarily traveling with costs covered by the University, will need to have housing arrangements during weekends or days not traveling for the role.

Primary Duties

1.

Build knowledge base related to the distinctives of Messiah University and a spirit of excellent hospitality to share with prospective students and their families.

2.

Travel to college fairs, high schools or other off-campus events to represent Messiah University

3.

Plan and execute recruitment travel in the fall primarily, including the scheduling of appointments and hotels

4.

Enter prospective student data into the Slate CRM on a daily basis

5.

Document travel events and evaluations in Slate CRM

6.

Submit regular reports regarding recruitment activities to supervisor

7.

Communicate important information concerning specific students and events to respective admissions territory managers

8.

Document and allocate expenses

9.

Assist with occasional on campus events, visits, phoning, etc. when not traveling

10.

Maintain consistent and timely attendance at scheduled events
