What makes Messiah University's MOT program unique?

Messiah University’s MOT program is designed to successfully prepare you for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) licensing exam and equip you to serve as an occupational therapist in a variety of settings. Our program offers a number of distinctives that make it unique.

Integration of character, values and ethics Messiah integrates a faith perspective, commitment to ethical practice, and value of diversity and culture into our program.

Leadership development Messiah equips students to be leaders within the field of occupational therapy by being outward-focused and prepared to serve within a global context.

Academic distinction and accreditation Our MOT program offers a spiraling, developmental curriculum which builds a firm foundation of evidence-based theory and practice skills and is reinforced in coursework until students reach mastery. Messiah's MOT is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Winding Hill facility

The Winding Hill facilities consist of classrooms with access to the most current technologies, including a universally designed activities of daily living apartment, a specialized pediatric lab, a fully equipped cadaver lab and other instructional labs that enrich diverse learning experiences. On-site clinic

Students have easy, on-site access to observe clients, apply what they’ve learned and increase critical thinking and decision-making skills. In addition to multiple simulation lab spaces, Messiah’s program offers students a unique advantage by partnering with an on-site clinic at its Winding Hill location. Phoenix PT, OT and AT at Messiah University Winding Hill serves patients in the surrounding community and provides Messiah students with opportunities for observation and hands-on training.

Community service and cultural relevancy Messiah’s MOT program gives you the opportunity to engage in meaningful local community service. You will have the opportunity to learn from faculty that have practiced OT in other countries and have a passion for impacting change globally.
