Application Timeline for medical school directly after graduation:

  • Required courses completed by end of junior year (or, in exceptional cases by the end of the first semester of the senior year).
  • Apply in June between junior and senior year.
  • The application process opens in early June, and timely submission is strongly encouraged.

Application Timeline for medical school applicants who have taken time off after graduation:

  • It take approximately 15 months from the time you submit your medical school application in June until you will enter medical school.  Thus, if you plan to matriculate into medical school in September, 2023, you will need to take your MCAT if you have not already done so and apply to medical school in early summer, 2022.
  • MCAT scores have a shelf life!  Make sure that yours have not “expired” at the time of your application to medical school.

Standardized Test:

  • Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
  • Given numerous times yearly
  • The MCAT should be taken after prerequisite courses are completed (usually spring of junior year or summer between junior and senior years)
  • MCAT sections :
    • Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems
    • Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems
    • Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior
